Hereditary History of Chippewa Creations
Hello, my name is Pamela Harris-Kenwabikise. My late grandfather, Paul Kenwabikise, was the hereditary Chief of the Beaver Island Tribe. My grandfather, Paul and grandmother, Isabel Wabanimkee-Kenwabikise, lived their entire lives on the Great Lakes “Hidden Gem” we know as Beaver Island. Paul Kenwabikise netted whitefish to provide for his large family of 16 children which included my mother, Nancy Kenwabikise-Harris. Still today some of the Kenwabikise family reside year-around on the island that we all call “HOME”.
